TADS War Memorial project

Introduction

TADS World War I & II exhibition publicity posters

In 2012 Tadley and District History Society (TADS) decided to take part in the national commemoration to mark the centenary of the outbreak of war in 1914. A project group was formed which decided to focus on a narrow aspect of World War I, namely researching the lives of the 31 men listed on Tadley War Memorial.

The history of Tadley War Memorial

Researching the lives of the 31 men was a lengthy process - piecing together the various strands of their lives, asking for information from families and friends, tracing their birth certificates, details of their service records, how they died and where they are buried or commemorated. The group held countless meetings where facts were gone over and checked, illustrations sourced etc. An exhibition on the lives of the 31 men was held on 27 September 2014.
